Southern Surgical Group, Macy McKenzie

Macy is a native from the sandhills of North Carolina and graduated from Pinecrest High School. She continued her education at Sandhills Community College where she majored in Liberal Arts after which she received her diploma in Radiology Technology from Moore Memorial Hospital School of Radiology Technology, Pinehurst, North Carolina.

After living in Georgia and Texas, she moved to South Carolina in 1984 and became employed with Lexington Medical Center in 1985. During her fifteen years with Lexington Medical Center, she became the Coordinator for Cardiovascular Services where she was instrumental in the awarding of accreditation to the Lexington Medical Center Vascular Lab by the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Vascular Laboratories (ICAVL). Lexington Medical Center’s Vascular Lab was the first in Columbia to earn accreditation.

In February 2000, she became employed with Southern Surgical Group as the Technical Director of Southern Surgical Vascular Diagnostics where she is responsible for vascular studies, management, operation, quality control and correlations of the Vascular Lab, using state-of-the-art ultrasound and related diagnostic technologies. She was responsible for the awarding of the accreditation of Southern Surgical Vascular Diagnostics Lab by ICAVL and she continues to be responsible to ensure that this accreditation is maintained.

Macy is a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) and a Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographer in Abdomen, OB-GYN, and Vascular Technology.

Macy continues to be active as a member in local and national associations, attending seminars and conferences to meet the continuing medical educational requirements to maintain her credentials and registry’s.
