Originally from Eau Claire, Wisconsin, Dr. Libbey graduated from Pepperdine University in Malibu, California in 1987 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Sports Medicine. He received his medical degree from the Chicago Medical School in Chicago, Illinois in 1992. He completed his General Surgery residency there in 1998 and was the Chief Administrative Resident during his final year. Dr. Libbey next completed a Laparoscopic Surgical Fellowship in June of 1999 at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida. At Mayo, he was Director of the Laparoscopic Laboratory, which involved the training of residents, fellows and staff members in beginning and advanced laparoscopy. Less than one percent of general surgeons in the nation have this level of training in advanced laparoscopic surgery, making Dr. Libbey an expert in this field.
He is board certified with the American Board of Surgery.
